If you are unsure, start with a middle value, say 3 dB, as a starting point. Only your ears can detect the optimal clipping shape for the piece of music you’re mastering. Depending on music styles, the clipping can be less noticeable either with softer or harder shapes that’s why this control is continuously adjustable. It’s continuously variable from a straight digital hard clip (fully clockwise) to ultra soft non-clipping mode (fully counterclockwise). SLOPE: the clipping shape of this stage is adjustable.

GAIN REDUCTION METER: shows instant by instant the amount of signal that is attenuated by the clipping/saturation effect.TIP: leave the OUTPUT now at 0 dB because doing this the clipper limiter will never go beyond –0.05 dBfs, regardless of the Gain level you dial in This is the level of the signal injected into the clipper and will determine the quantity of saturation applied to the audio. GAIN: the Gain control adjusts the pre-level of this clipping stage.Peak clipping is very often used in mastering because it’s in most cases more transparent than peak limiting. This clipping stage module is useful every time you need to cut out all the peaks that keep the average level of a signal too low. I'm not interested in the average level being too low. This is coming from someone that at one time back in the day liked and primarily used IK products. I particularly don’t like IK’s marketing tactics, imo they totally dropped the ball with Sampletank which to me is now a 2nd tier product that’s been surpassed by Kontakt and proprietary players by various established & boutique developers. I prefer companies that are more straightforward, don’t play all of these games and offer a better level of transparency with their customers. The only IK product I really like, use and have kept in my system is Modo Bass, everything else I have alternatives that I think are better and easier to use and manage. I have been using IK products for many, many years.I will not use anything Sampletank related(actually wiped all of it off my drives) I rarely use any of the TRacks products and I have a bunch. Tactics like this and the preset sand trap IK presents to users with Amplitude that makes Amplitude much harder to use unless you have all of the Amplitude products has pulled me away from almost anything IK.
